Since making his debut in the series in Season 9, Jake Hughes has been at the forefront of a new era in Formula E’s British invasion and left an immediate mark on the World Championship when he took pole position in only his third race.

Born in Birmingham, England, on 30 May 1994, Jake started his career in 2010 at the late age of 16 but set out on a meteoric rise which saw him win the highly competitive British Formula 4 Championship in 2013.

After claiming vice-championship titles in Formula Renault 2.0 Alps and in the F3 Asian Championship, Jake moved up to race on the Formula One support bill in FIA Formula 3 where he won three races and claimed eight podiums over a two-season spell.

During this time, the Briton got his first taste of Formula E and served as Maserati MSG Racing’s official Reserve Driver throughout Season 7, then under the team’s previous guise of Venturi Racing.

For Season 9, Jake stepped up to a full-time race seat in Formula E with McLaren and quickly got up to speed, scoring points on debut and securing two pole positions across his highly impressive first season.

In Season 10, Jake secured his first podium in the series by finishing second at the 2024 Shanghai E-Prix, and in Season 11, will be aiming to reach new heights with Maserati MSG Racing.
