2020 Pre-Season Testing in Numbers

Dive into our numbers from Formula E pre-season testing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo…

After a 108-day absence from the track, ROKiT Venturi Racing was back in action this week, descending upon the Circuit Ricardo Tormo for Formula E pre-season testing.

With our three days in Valencia marking our sole opportunity for data collection ahead of the new season, preparations were, unsurprisingly, extensive.

As our newest recruit, Norman Nato completed his first days as an official ROKiT Venturi Racing driver while team-mate, Edoardo Mortara, made his return for a fourth successive season.

Over the course of five test sessions – which equated to a combined track time of 18 hours – Edo and Norman pumped in the laps, collecting data at every available moment.

Edo completed a total of 245 laps over the test while Norman added to this tally by completing his own 268 tours of the 3.138-kilometre-long venue.

This signalled the team’s most successful pre-season test to date in Formula E’s Gen2 era, with our 513 laps beating our previous 320 lap record from Season 5.

By surpassing the 500-lap barrier and as one of only three teams to achieve this feat during the week, we drove over 1,600-kilometres in total.

This distance equates to just under half of the total distance we covered in the entirety of Season 6, and is the equivalent of driving from our Monaco base to Valencia and back again.

Amidst this running, Norman produced a best lap of a 1:12.002s on the final day of running to place P11 in the combined classification while Edo was only 0.064s behind in P12.

Only 0.578s covered the entire field of 24 runners.

With only 44 days until the first race of Season 7 – Formula E’s first as an FIA-sanctioned World Championship – our preparations will continue, so we can be in the best possible position for the Santiago E-Prix.

Let the battle commence...
