In Their Words

James Rossiter, Team Principal, Maserati MSG Racing
“After Cape Town we examined our performance closely to establish the areas in which we can improve and the team has worked hard to implement some solutions that should enhance our pace and performance moving forwards. There’s no denying that this season hasn’t started how we hoped, and although fortune hasn’t always been on our side, we’ve known at every stage that we have a competitive package at our disposal. Now, we just need to put the final pieces of the puzzle together, and if we can make the most of the opportunities presented to us at another new circuit, we’re confident that we can be in a position to compete at the front.”

Edoardo Mortara, Driver, Maserati MSG Racing

“Since joining Formula E, Brazil is a country that I’ve always wanted to race in, so I’m looking forward to finally do that this weekend. With lots of local motorsport legends like [Ayrton] Senna and [Emerson] Fittipaldi, São Paulo has a massive motorsport heritage, so turning the city’s streets into a race track will be a very special experience and I’m sure the fans are going to enjoy the action. The track itself is quite technical, so it will test a lot of different aspects of performance – as a driver, that’s a challenge I welcome.”

Maximilian Günther, Driver, Maserati MSG Racing

“I’m looking forward to getting back to the race track this weekend and it’s exciting to be taking on another new challenge as Formula E heads to Brazil for the first time. São Paulo is an incredible city and with a rich motorsport pedigree, I’m sure it will be a great addition to the calendar. During the past two races we’ve come close to achieving a breakthrough result, but the performances we’re capable of haven’t materialised. We have a strong team and with the right approach I know that we can have a great weekend.”

Giovanni Sgro, Head of Maserati Corse

“After a two-week break, we are happy to be back on track. Season 9 is well underway, and we continue to learn race after race. Despite the difficult race in South Africa, the Cape Town E-Prix showed our consistency and the improvements made, particularly throughout practice. Lately our pace has been good, and we are eager to demonstrate that our progress is genuine, as well as determined to capitalise on what good we have collected from the previous round. Maserati is used to fighting and excelling, and we know that the path to glory is not always easy. The important thing is to always look ahead and give our best effort out there. We are looking forward to this racing weekend, we can’t be away from the track for too long; hopefully this time a good performance will bring us points and a confidence boost as we enter the second half of the Season.”
