City Guide: The Magic of Monaco

Learn more about the home of ROKiT Venturi Racing ahead of the Monaco E-Prix…

The Magic of Monaco

Famed as the crown jewel of motorsport and acclaimed as the most iconic racing venue in the world, Monaco marks the next stop of the FIA Formula E World Championship as ROKiT Venturi Racing returns to its home.

With an area of 2.1-kilometres², Monaco may be the second-smallest country in the world, but what the Principality lacks in size, it makes up for in reputation.

Founded in 1215, Monaco may only hold an 800-year history but as the very definition of glamour, it has secured international fame, renowned for its allure, enchantment and charisma.

As such, whether it’s the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week or the annual Yacht Show, every event promises prestige but Monaco is perhaps best known for the racing action that takes place on its winding roads.

A History of Racing

This racing heritage can be traced back 92 years to when William Grover-Williams piloted his Bugatti to the top step of the podium in 1929.

Fast-forward to the present, and Monaco has become one of motorsport’s most prestigious circuits and maintains the same challenge that it posed in the early 20th century.

When Formula E raced on the historic roads for the first time in 2015, a new chapter was started and in the fourth edition of the Monaco E-Prix this weekend, a place in history is again on offer.

The Full Monte

After competing on a special shortened configuration from Seasons 1-5, Formula E will race on the full layout of the Circuit de Monaco for the very first time this weekend.

Navigating the challenges of Casino Square, the Grand Hotel hairpin and the tunnel, drivers will face the ultimate test of concentration on a track that punishes the smallest of mistakes.

As the jewel in what is Formula E’s first season as an FIA World Championship, everything is to play for when the starting lights flash out this Saturday.

It’s Coming Home

As the world’s only Monegasque racing team, the Monaco E-Prix marks our home race here at ROKiT Venturi Racing and competition is embedded at the core of our DNA.

Located just a stone’s throw away from our headquarters, the streets that form the Circuit de Monaco are very familiar – they are the streets that we walk almost every day.

After finishing on the podium in 2019, we have a proven track record on home turf as one of only two teams to have finished inside the points every Monaco E-Prix to date.

As such, we can’t wait to take to the track this weekend, not only to compete on motorsport’s most prestigious and iconic circuit but to race in our abode.
