In Seasons 1 and 2, the London E-Prix held a key place on the Formula E calendar, and last weekend, we were delighted to return to the UK capital for the first time since 2016.
Racing on the ExCeL circuit was a highly anticipated and historic moment, and on Saturday, Formula E’s newest track acted as the backdrop for a world first in motorsport.
By racing both inside the arena and outside on its access roads, this marked the first time that an international motor race has been held on a circuit that runs indoors and outdoors.
As one of the most unique tracks that we’ve ever raced on in Formula E and we’re already counting down the days until the 2022 event.
When the action kicked off at the ExCeL on Saturday, from Group 4 Norman Nato found himself in a prime position to challenge when qualifying got underway on the Royal Docks.
With poor weather impacting proceedings, the 29-year-old was able to take advantage of his environment and in a one-shot 250kW push, was on a charge.
Norman launched himself into the top six to secure a place in the Super Pole shootout for the third time this season, facing a chance to qualify at the top.
As the first top-six runner and with track conditions continuously improving, however, the Frenchman was at a disadvantage but nevertheless, remained upbeat.
A 1:23.912-second lap briefly handed Norman provisional pole, but with the weather improving, P6 was his final standing in the run-up to the race.
With Norman failing to take the chequered flag on Saturday, Race 1 in London was undoubtedly a difficult affair, but in a recovery drive, Edoardo Mortara was able to move forward.
After topping Group 1 but falling victim to poor weather in qualifying, Edo started the race from P16 and made inroads from the outset on a circuit that was challenging to overtake on.
Performing six passes, the Swiss-Italian recovered to P11 but despite the race being over, his ascent was not yet finished.
When both Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland were disqualified post-race after exceeding the maximum amount of usable energy, Edo was promoted to P9 putting two further points on the board.

As the penultimate weekend of the season, the London E-Prix was of key significance and now with only two races remaining, the finish line is in sight.
With 86 points covering the top 10 teams in the championship, and only 23 points separating the top 10 drivers in the standings, both title fights are still far from over.
A total of 96 points are still on offer for teams – 60 for drivers – and as such, the stage is set for the Berlin E-Prix next month where Formula E’s first-ever World Champions will be crowned.
