In Detail

On its penultimate weekend of competition, Formula E’s Race at Home Challenge visited the digital district of Red Hook in Brooklyn to race around the home of the New York City E-Prix – the sixth race of the esports series which races in support of UNICEF.

With qualifying an ever-important affair, given the championship’s ‘Race Royale’ format, Felipe Massa and Edoardo Mortara kick-started their classification assault from Groups 2 and 3, recording P17 and P8 at the close of the one-shot session.

From the fourth row of the grid, Edo secured a strong getaway, however, was clipped in Turn 2 while Felipe – who started in P14 following grid penalties for Oliver Turvey, Robin Frijns, and Nyck de Vries – was also caught up in the accident ahead.

As a result of the first-lap crash, Edo and Felipe dropped to P22 and P23. Fighting forward, Edo retired from the race to be classified in P20 while Felipe was eliminated, taking P17.

As the Race at Home Challenge approaches its final weekend of competition, two rounds remain with 75 points on offer. Having raised over £50,000 for UNICEF to date, the esports series continues to strive towards its £100,000 goal, with all funds raised going towards the global coronavirus appeal.

Elsewhere in the The Race All-Star Pro Cup, Tom Dillmann secured P16 and P10 while Esteban Guerrieri took P6 and P16 in the Silverstone season finale, helping ROKiT Venturi Racing to P6 in the Teams' Championship.
