Since 2014, we have been part of Formula E’s bright vision for the future, pioneering a better tomorrow through the race of today and even in the face of these unprecedented times, the championship continues to protect future generations.
Teaming up with UNICEF, Formula E will support the global coronavirus appeal by protecting vulnerable children and families most at risk, supporting education and healthcare through remote learning programmes and the vital supply of protective equipment to frontline hospital staff.
Working in collaboration with the world’s leading organisation for children, Formula E will make an immediate impact on UNICEF’s work, launching fundraising initiatives to build upon an initial donation to the charity.
“Formula E is committed to supporting UNICEF in its efforts to protect the health and wellbeing of the world’s children and families,” commented Formula E CEO Jamie Reigle.
“Formula E was founded with a purpose of reducing global climate change by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles; a mission which aims to provide a safer, cleaner life for future generations.
“Today, we are taking immediate action to protect future generations from a global health emergency.
“Our partnership with and initial donation to UNICEF are the start of a long-term journey together to protect the health, safety and education of vulnerable children around the world.
“On behalf of the Formula E ecosystem of teams, manufacturers, drivers, partners and all their staff, we are honoured to support UNICEF and encourage everyone to stay safe and stay home.”
As part of an extensive response to the outbreak, UNICEF is tackling the health and wellbeing of children across the world and, in turn, missed educational opportunities while also combatting discrimination caused by misinformation.
In the face of a situation that the world has never experienced, Formula E’s donations and fundraising efforts will not only support but also raise awareness to UNICEF’s mission – that of changing lives across the world for the better.
“In these uncertain and challenging times, it’s more important than ever before to harness the unique power of sport and unite to protect the most vulnerable among us,” added ROKiT Venturi Racing Team Principal Susie Wolff.
“I’m proud to see Formula E teaming up with UNICEF – not only as a racer, but as a mother. We are all stakeholders in the future of our planet – none more so than our children.”
