Get To Grips With The Riyadh Street Circuit

Dive into the stats of the Riyadh Street Circuit with the help of Hewlett Packard Enterprise...

The Diriyah E-Prix has been the opening act of the past two seasons of Formula E, and with only one day remaining until the start of the 2020/21 campaign, excitement is ramping up.

Having held three races to date, the event has become one of Formula E’s most intense challenges, and since 2018, has become synonymous with history being made.

In Season 5, Diriyah held the series’ inaugural Gen2 race, but tomorrow, it will host Formula E’s first-ever event as an FIA-sanctioned World Championship which is also its first night race.

597 low-consumption LED lights powered by renewable energy will illuminate the circuit and ultimately, Formula E’s path to the highest tier of international motorsport.

The incoming double-header also marks the third time that a new Formula E season will commence with two races in the same city while, by holding its fifth event, Diriyah will become the third most raced on street circuit in the championship.

At 2.495-kilometres long, the Riyadh Street Circuit is far from Formula E’s longest venue, however, with 21 challenging corners, it is the most technical track on the Season 7 calendar.

In Formula E’s short history, only two other circuits have featured such a high quantity of turns, with Punta del Este and the first iteration of Rome matching Diriyah’s intensity.

Over the past three races, Edoardo Mortara has fronted our qualifying efforts here at ROKiT Venturi Racing and the Swiss-Italian has never qualified outside of the top 10 in Diriyah.

In Season 6, Edo narrowly missed out on a podium in Race 2 to take P4 and while this marked our best finish of the campaign, it also saw Edo become our most successful driver of all time.

This coming weekend, we will only receive two hours of practice over three sessions, but fortunately, we’re familiar with the circuit having turned 347 laps in the past two seasons.

This equates to 865.7-kilometers of running – the same as driving from our base in Monaco to Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s European HQ in Geneva just under three times, all on electric power.

As the countdown clock continues to tick, we’re on the eve of a historic moment for Formula E and with the help of our Official Technical Partner, HPE, we’re primed to hit the track with a competitive edge here at ROKiT Venturi Racing.
