Following the completion of four races, Formula E’s sixth season is already one-quarter of the way through as we fly to Morocco for the Marrakesh E-Prix.
Racing in Marrakesh’s Agdal district, the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan has produced exciting wheel-to-wheel action in years gone by after its 2016 Formula E debut.
As a semi-permanent circuit, the Moulay El Hassan features 15 tricky corners, with the 2.971km-long lap commencing at full throttle en route to Turn 1.
The left-hand first corner demands drivers to be firm on the brakes, slowing to carefully clip the apex before running to the exit wall to maximise speed.
Accelerating out of Turn 1, drivers speed through the right-hand kink of Turn 2, braking for Turn 3 and the second left-hander of the lap.
A medium-length straight connects Turn 3 to its successor, with drivers braking for the left-right chicane of Turns 4 and 5, swinging through the right-hand kink of Turn 6 without lifting.
Building in speed on the back straight, Turn 7 demands drivers to be hard on the brakes. While overtaking is possible into this corner, so is a mistake, as BMW discovered in 2019…
As the track tightens, precision is required to tackle the left-hand Turn 8 while the constant radius but flat Turn 9 leads to the left-hand hairpin of Turn 10.
The left-hand Turn 11 is the penultimate corner of the lap while Turn 12 is the final before the start/finish line.
Maximising speed through this corner is key to securing the perfect time.
That completes a fairly relentless lap in Marrakesh!
