Q&A: Meet ROKiT Venturi Racing's Investors

Hear from new ROKiT Venturi Racing investors, Chairman & Managing Partner Scott Swid and  Managing Partner José M Aznar…

Why does it make sense to get involved with Formula E?

Scott: “The series is unique in that it races with a purpose – it raises awareness of electromobility through captivating competition and for me, that is extremely exciting. The world is only heading in one direction and we desperately need to focus on sustainability and protecting the environment. Every corporate board is looking into what they can do to protect the legacy of the world for future generations and there isn’t an option when it comes to the electric revolution. It’s happening, and if you fail to get involved, you will be left behind. Now that Formula E has finished its start-up phase, it will only gain momentum as we have seen with its progression in free-to-air TV coverage. Now feels like the perfect time to get involved.”

José: “As Scott said, there’s something very attractive about being part of a movement for positive change - not just talk but real concrete action. And then combining this positive force with captivating racing and sportsmanship makes Formula E a compelling proposition. I have a unique perspective on Formula E having witnessed it from the very start and even from that moment I could see that it had real potential.”

Why ROKiT Venturi Racing?

Scott: “There is lots to like about the team and lots of points that make us unique. It is the only team in International sport managed and partially owned by a woman. We are also the team with the highest gender diversity on the grid and the only Monegasque based racing team. In short, Venturi is completely unique –  it’s forward-thinking, it’s bold, it dares to dream what others wouldn’t, has history and heritage. From a business perspective, this makes Venturi a highly attractive investment.”

What does the investment mean for Venturi?

Scott: “I think it’s a big sign of progress for the team. Like Formula E, Venturi is also entering a new era in 2021 and both José and I share the team’s bold vision for the future. While Susie will continue to manage the team, José and I will combine our commercial expertise to elevate the team’s appeal as it continues to grow. We have already seen one indication of the progress that the team is making by collectively recognising the need for, and appointing a Deputy Team Principal who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Jerome d’Ambrosio. Venturi’s Monegasque heritage will remain at its core and we’re really pleased to be entering this new chapter together.”

What are your immediate ambitions for ROKiT Venturi Racing in Season 7?

José: “Season 7 marks Venturi’s second in partnership with Mercedes-Benz and from Susie’s perspective, we have learnt a lot since the difficulties of the Season 6 finale in Berlin. Pre-season testing presented a key opportunity for data collection and in Valencia, the team completed its most successful test in Formula E’s Gen2 era to date. Because of the track’s dissimilarities to a street circuit, there’s only so much we can see from this amount of testing. The real time to see our performance will be in Santiago. After showing exceptional potential on street circuits in the past, we’re looking forward to seeing what Edo can deliver in his fourth season with the team and the initial indications from Norman are also promising. We have a lot to do before the first race but we’re very much looking forward to Formula E’s maiden race as a World Championship in Chile.”
