Q&A: Susie Gets Ready for Season 7

ROKiT Venturi Racing Team Principal, Susie Wolff, looks ahead to pre-season testing...

What has ROKiT Venturi Racing been up to during the off-season?

“The off-season has been a very busy period for all of us in Monaco. As soon as Season 6 ended, our eyes and attention immediately shifted towards Season 7, and our first focus was finalising our driver lineup. The coming campaign will mark Edo’s fourth with the team and we’re thrilled to have him joined by Norman Nato, who has stepped up to a full-time race seat after previously acting as our Reserve Driver. We have also strengthened ROKiT Venturi Racing operationally, and we’re delighted to welcome Jerome D’Ambrosio as our Deputy Team Principal.”

The upcoming season marks Formula E’s first as a World Championship. How significant is this new status for the series?

“Season 7 marks a milestone moment for Formula E as it gains World Championship status. This recognition from the FIA places the series in the highest tier of international motorsport and this is deservedly so. Since 2014, the championship has progressed, evolved, and grown to become renowned in the sport and this is a testament to the hard work the Formula E management team puts in. We’re all very proud to be competing in this landmark season and we’re looking forward to racing in next chapter of the series.”

What are ROKiT Venturi Racing’s aims and objectives for Season 7?

“Season 6 will be remembered for a variety of different reasons, and in between some of the struggles we undeniably faced, I think we showed serious promise. We’ve been working very hard to implement solutions to the issues we encountered, and with this in mind, I think we’re already in a strong position for Season 7. Like every team, we want to be fighting towards the front of the grid and we have some important testing to undertake in Valencia but in reality we won’t know our true performance until we’re out on a street circuit for the first time in Santiago.”

How will the team approach pre-season testing at Valencia?

“With a new powertrain for Season 7 we have a lot of basic testing to do, our main focus for Valencia will be reliability, plenty of running time and getting that consistency we need.”

Which race are you most looking forward to in Season 7?

“After the disruption of Season 6, I’m looking forward to returning to some of the cities that we, unfortunately, couldn’t visit earlier this year. May’s Monaco E-Prix will be very important for the team because this marks our home race and racing at home is a very unique and a very special experience. After last racing there in Season 5 and finishing on the podium, we’ll be looking to put on a strong showing for all of our supporters.”

How will the blend of Norman’s youth and Edo’s experience aid ROKiT Venturi Racing?

“For Season 7, we have a formidable driver pairing in Edo and Norman. The coming campaign will be Edo’s fourth with the team, and although it is Norman’s rookie season, he already holds quite a lot of experience in Formula E as our former Reserve Driver. By pairing Edo’s knowledge of the championship with the work ethic and dedication that Norman has shown in his time with the team, I think we’ll create a very collaborative team environment which will aid our progression and help us develop throughout the season.”
