It had been 122 days since we last took to the track and as we prepare for the return of Season 6 this August, we’ve been getting back into the swing of things here at ROKiT Venturi Racing.
Yesterday, an electrifying whir echoed around the Ales Circuit in southern France, and with this distinct sound of the future came the reunion of our racing family.
Closely following strict safety measures – as advised by the French authorities – Monaco’s only racing team got back together while Edoardo Mortara got back out on track.
Behind the wheel of the Silver Arrow 01, Edo ran a restricted number of laps as the team captured content during ROKiT Venturi Racing’s permitted 2019/20 media day.
This not only provided the team with the chance to get re-acquainted with the race track, but also a taste of what competing in lockdown will be like as Formula E’s six-round Berlin finale fast approaches.
Marking the first time he has sat behind the wheel of a racing car since taking a top-five finish in February’s Marrakesh E-Prix, Edo’s face embodied excitement when he climbed out of the cockpit:
“I was looking forward to the media day for quite some time and even though we only ran a restricted number of laps, it was still nice to get back behind the wheel,” he said.
“Because of lockdown, my contact with the team has been limited to phone calls and online meetings so it was great to see everyone under social distancing measures.
“We don’t have any other on-track outings between now and Berlin so we will be using the simulator over the coming weeks to do some good preparation work and this will be key to end the season on a high.
“For sure, the tight schedule in Berlin will be difficult for everyone but this is a challenge that we’re all ready for.”
