When Formula E entered its current generation at the close of 2018, we too entered a new phase here at ROKiT Venturi Racing by linking up with Hewlett Packard Enterprise [HPE].
Collaborating and deploying game-changing technologies, we’re now in our second season with HPE and as we continue to unlock the meaning of data, the steps in our rewarding journey progress.
Operating in three spheres: the race track, the factory, and our simulator, HPE is fuelling our insight and by refining efficiency and advancing engineering excellence, we are maintaining our competitive edge in the dynamic, fast-paced Formula E arena.
“In present day, we collect more and more data – up to 30 GB every race weekend – and understanding the meaning of this data is vital,” explains Vincent Vial, Technical Consultant Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
“At the track in a racing environment, HPE deploys IT solutions for ROKiT Venturi Racing’s engineering team. Not only are we providing storage with five TBs of disc capacity but we also supply Wi-Fi and bring data processing with Edgeline.
“HPE Edgeline allows for real-time calculation and on-site analysis of data and this is key to performing well in a competitive scenario.”
As is routine in motorsport, establishing a correlation is instrumental when advancing performance and through HPE’s services, we are able to match car telemetry to simulator data with ease:
“To get the most insight, more accurate correlation data analysis is needed,” continues Vial.
“Through HPE hardware deployment and services such as StoreEasy, Venturi is able to synchronise and secure trackside data which can then be shared to it’s Monaco base with HPE Aruba networking.
“By analysing this data, Venturi can decode it and then correlate it to other information and from here, understand car behaviour and improve efficiency.”
Providing solutions that have been pivotal to software development and therefore performance, HPE continues to exceed all of our expectations here in Monaco and with live support, we are able to gain a competitive edge against our rivals.
Even in these unprecedented times, HPE remains by our side and by accelerating the deployment of our new data centre back at base, we are able to work from home:
“The accelerated deployment of our solutions at Venturi’s base allows the team to work remotely, with collaboration tools such as conferencing and file sharing allowing workflows to continue seamlessly,” adds Vial.
As we wait for conditions to reach a point where it is safe to go racing again, we look forward to continuing our journey with HPE as we reach new heights through ground-breaking innovation.
