On the eve of the Diriyah E-Prix, ROKiT Venturi Racing is delighted to welcome Jake Hughes as its Official Reserve Driver for Season 7 of the FIA Formula E World Championship.
After making his single-seater debut in 2012, Jake has flourished in his career to date, winning the 2013 British F4 Championship [four wins, 10 podiums] before finishing as the runner-up in Formula Renault 2.0 Alps in 2015 [three wins, seven podiums].
This success allowed the Briton to graduate to Formula 3 level in 2016, contesting the GP3 Series, European Formula 3 and FIA Formula 3 until 2020, where he took seven wins and 23 podiums across all three categories.
The 26-year-old is no stranger to the world of Formula E and since Season 5, Jake has participated in the fully-electric series’ annual Marrakesh Rookie Test, representing NIO 333 and most recently, the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team.
”The role of the Reserve Driver is crucial in Formula E especially during these challenging times with the global pandemic. Jake has done more than prove his talent and natural ability on the junior single-seater ladder and we’re delighted to welcome him to ROKiT Venturi Racing.”
”I’m incredibly excited to join ROKiT Venturi Racing as the team’s Reserve Driver. I want to say a big thank you to Susie [Wolff] and the team for trusting me with this opportunity. I’ve driven Formula E cars in the past, most recently with Mercedes, so I feel ready to do my job. I’m looking forward to supporting Edo and Norman this season and I’m excited to help the team make the car as fast as possible while, of course, learning on the way. Formula E is an incredibly exciting championship, and it feels fantastic to be back at a race track.”
