15 races have taken place, 1,590 points have been awarded, and after 171 days of competition, the chase for the Season 7 Formula E crown is over.
As the series’ first campaign as a World Championship, the spectacle was greater than ever and Formula E’s longest season to date also produced the closest title fight yet.
Throughout the year, it was impossible to predict the unpredictable, but by learning from the challenges of Season 6, we were primed to fight forward here at ROKiT Venturi Racing.
The season started in the dead of night in Saudi Arabia, but Edoardo Mortara ensured that we would shine bright as he powered to our first of five podiums in this record-breaking season.
Featuring more double-header events than any other competition, momentum also proved to be key and it was in Puebla where we finally unleashed the true pace of our Season 7 package.
P3 in Race 1 preceded our second victory as a team in Race 2, and another dominant performance from Edo brought about an end to an 834-day winless streak.
Only two weeks later in New York City, another long-standing drought was broken by Norman Nato as he secured our third fastest lap in history and our first in 1,457 days.
The Big Apple’s double-header proved to be a crucial weekend overall, and a P7 result from Norman ensured that Season 7 would be our most fruitful season to date.
Approaching the Berlin finale, everything was still up for grabs as we battled for the World Championship crown.
On Saturday morning, we secured our first double Super Pole appearance since Season 2, and this ensured that we were in the heat of battle at the front of the field.
Narrowly missing out on his third career victory by 0.141s, Edo again finished on the podium to propel himself into title contention, moving into P2 in the standings, three points adrift of the top.
One day later, Norman was also on a charge, and from P6 on the grid, went on to secure his maiden win in Formula E to become our first-ever rookie race winner and most successful rookie driver on record.
Unfortunately, an accident on the opening lap of Round 15 brought Edo’s title challenge to a cruel early conclusion but nevertheless, our Swiss-Italian star still made history.
By finishing second in the standings overall, Edo became Formula E’s very first vice-World Champion and capped off his best season to date by amassing 92 points.
Norman, meanwhile, ended the season with 54 points to become our third most successful driver to date and played a key role in our Teams’ Championship efforts.
With our drivers scoring an impressive 55 points in Berlin – our largest points haul ever from one weekend – we successfully secured P7 in the Teams’ Standings with 146 points.
In terms of points scored, number of wins, and number of podiums, Season 7 is now our most successful campaign on record as we beat our previous personal best haul from Season 5 by 58 points.
Our Season 7 tally is also more than three times the amount of points we scored last season and marks a points increase of a staggering 222.7%.
Amid this success, Edo secured his 20th points finish for Monaco’s only racing team to score his 200th point in Formula E while we not only surpassed the 400-point mark but also the 500-point mark in Berlin.
En route to this achievement, we turned a total of 1,758 laps over the course of the season – the equivalent of 4,855-kilometres.
Since Season 1, we have now driven a total of 29,318kms using fully electric power which is the same as driving over halfway around the circumference of the world.
Although Season 7 is over, our full attention is already on Season 8 and with high hopes and ambitions, the only way is up for ROKiT Venturi Racing.
