As the first team to commit to Formula E back in 2013, Venturi Racing has been present on the grid since the series’ inaugural 2014/15 season. So, it’s fair to say that we’ve visited a few racing venues in our time – every single one in Formula E, in fact!
With Seoul and Jakarta joining the Season 6 calendar, we can’t wait to add South Korea and Indonesia to that list. Racing around the site of the 1988 Summer Olympic Games and the National Monument in Merdeka Square will be something truly special – not to mention returning to London for the first time since Season 2!
A new season of Formula E wouldn’t be complete without a set of regulation changes. And with a number of tweaks inbound for Season 6, we can’t wait to see how the racing will shape up.
For the 2019/20 season, we will see a 10kW power increase in Attack Mode, with the maximum power usage during each E-Prix rising from 225kW to 235kW. The power boost can also no longer be used under Safety Car and Virtual Safety Car conditions, meaning that drivers must drive through each designated Attack Zone under green flag running.
There will also be an increased focus on strategy this season, with drivers having a fixed amount of energy subtracted [the equivalent of 1kWh per minute] during Safety Car and Full Course Yellow conditions. In simple terms, this means that energy conservation at low speeds is now impossible.
And there’s even more… points mean prizes in Formula E, so with an additional point now available for the fastest driver in group qualifying, we’re relishing the chance to go even harder in the flat-out shootout for those vital grid slots and championship points.
For Season 6, we also welcome new rivals in the form of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. With the grid expanding to a full field of 24 cars, we can’t wait for even more competition this season.
In what has already proved to be a closely contested formula – demonstrated in Season 5, with eight different drivers winning the first eight races – the on-track action is set to be even more spectacular this season.
The arrival of Mercedes-Benz in Formula E coincides with a new partnership between Venturi Racing and the German marque for Season 6, where we will utilise the manufacturer’s powertrain.
To say that we’re thrilled with this arrangement is an understatement. We can’t wait to blend Mercedes’ precision and reliability with our experience in innovation and expertise in electric vehicles. You could call it a match made in heaven – or perhaps a match #MadeInMonaco ;)
Mercedes powertrain in hand, we begin a new chapter in our motorsport story in Season 6, as the Venturi name lives on in Formula E but under the new title of Venturi Racing.
Coupled with a breathtaking new livery, we’re hoping this fresh look will match our ambition to rise through the ranks, as we aim to build upon our best season to date by pushing towards the front of the pack.
Whilst there are plenty of new elements for Venturi Racing in Season 6 stability and consistency is still a top priority. One thing that will remain the same is our driver lineup, with Felipe and Edo partnering behind the wheel for a second consecutive season.
With one full season of Formula E experience under his belt, we’re excited to see what Felipe can do in this coming campaign, while Edo’s presence at the team for a third season builds upon our current recipe for success.
