Location Guide: Portland

Liberate your spirit and discover Portland with Stoli® and Maserati MSG Racing

Portland, Oregon, is very much like Maserati MSG Racing and Stoli®. We embrace our differences, we welcome culture, and we’re proud of who we are.

We’re true to ourselves, our creativity, and our purpose. We listen to our soul. And this makes us unique.

With a close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and living in the shadow of the Cascade Mountain Range, urban and rural collide in Portland, and the resulting creation is marvellous.

It is a hidden gem in America’s Pacific Northwest, and that understated wonder is defined by a living, breathing city, encased and surrounded by rugged, natural beauty.

The clue is in often in the name, and Portland was established in the mid-19th century and given its position on the Willamette and Columbia rivers, was once a major port.

With nearly 650,000 residents, it is the most populous city in Oregon, and because it was built with pedestrians in mind, it’s extremely easy to explore Portland on foot.

Pioneer Courthouse Square is the heart of the city, and it’s no coincidence that it’s known as Portland’s living room.

The urban park hosts more than 300 events a year and is lined with food carts which are a cornerstone of the city’s incredible food scene.

Fried Egg I’m In Love comes recommended, and any reference to The Cure is always served up well alongside a truly delicious breakfast sandwich.

While you’re in Pioneer Courthouse Square, be sure to look down at its bricked surface, which features the names of Portland’s residents who raised funds to build the square before it opened in 1984.

Featuring a weather station, countless works of art, chess boards and even a news studio, this terracotta-coloured wonder is a hive of activity, and it’s just one part of Portland.

The city’s Art Museum is another joy to visit. It is the oldest museum in the Pacific Northwest, and has a large and diverse collection, including Native American works and creations from greats including Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.

While Portland’s inner-city experience is hard to rival, failing to take in the great outdoors would be a true crime, but with a limitless list of options, the choice you’ll face will always be difficult.

For a relaxing afternoon, head to the Tom McCall Waterslide Park, but to experience the living embodiment of tranquillity, start off by heading to The Grotto.

The Grotto is a place that allows the soul to recharge, far from the stress and pressure of daily life, and once you find a peaceful state of mind, head to The Japanese Garden.

The Japanese Garden is one of the most authentic outside of Japan, and exploring it is a calming and soothing way to spend your time.

In June, everything is in bloom and the International Rose Test Garden makes for a beautiful walk as you take in its countless varieties in bright, vivid, and ecstatic colour.

If you want to head further afield, visit Multnomah Falls – a 189-metre waterfall where underground spring water from Larch Mountain cascades down two drops.

The view from Benson Bridge is perhaps the best in the house and is only a short climb away to give you a closer look at every tumbling droplet.

Mount Saint Helens, an active volcano which famously blew its peak in 1980, is a drive from here and serves up some spectacular views, especially on a clear day.

Wherever you go and whatever you see, Portland will leave a lasting impression.

It’s about the journey, not the destination, and succumbing to the city’s laidback ethos will only leave you wanting for more.

Visit us in Portland’s fan zone before the race and liberate your spirit with Maserati MSG Racing and Stoli®. Sit down, and join in. We know you’ll enjoy it.
