Located just a stone’s throw away from our base in Fontvieille, the Circuit de Monaco is perhaps the most iconic street track in the world and is one we know well here at ROKiT Venturi Racing.
Acclaimed as motorsport’s most prestigious venue, the Monaco street circuit is the ultimate test of skill and a place on the podium is reserved for only a select few and the very best in the business.
As the world’s only Monegasque racing team, the Monaco E-Prix marks our home race and in 2021, we’re gearing up for Formula E’s return to the Principality for the first time since 2019.
Since first appearing on the Formula E calendar in 2015, a total of three Monaco E-Prix have been contested to date and we’re fortunate to hold an impressive racing record on home turf.
After opening our account in Monaco with a double points finish, as a team, we have improved year-on-year and most recently took third place on the podium in 2019.
With continued success, we are one of only two Formula E teams in history to have finished inside the top 10 of every Monaco E-Prix to date – a record we aim to extend this weekend.
Racing on a shortened, specially-designed configuration of the classic track, we have driven a total of 623 laps in Monaco in the past – the equivalent of 118 laps around Monaco’s 9.3-kilometre border.
This distance of 1,099.5-kilometres equates to 311 laps of the full Monaco layout – the one we’ll be racing on for the very first time in history this Saturday.
By racing on such a prestigious circuit, we’ll be driving through some of the most legendary corners in motorsport, including Saint Devote, the Grand Hotel hairpin and the infamous tunnel for the first time while becoming the first and only Monegasque team to do so.
When the action gets underway, Edoardo Mortara will start his second Monaco E-Prix, but for Norman Nato, it will mark his first although he is no stranger to the historic streets.
After taking pole position, setting the fastest lap and winning the Monaco round of Formula Renault 3.5 in 2014 and taking second in GP2 in 2016, the Frenchman already has a proven track record in the Principality.
With Deputy Team Principal Jérôme D’Ambrosio also holding success with one win and one further podium, as a team, we hold five top-three performances in Monaco alone.
