The Italian dream continues: Maserati's single-seater homecoming

Monza, 1957. Rome, 2023. 66 years, one home race.

Every story has a beginning and an end. Some have a legendary comeback.

Just like in 2023 for Maserati, as the iconic Trident continued its motorsport journey with an entry into the world of Formula E with MSG Racing. In doing so making history as the first Italian luxury brand to race in the all-electric series.

With most of the ninth Formula E season already over, all signs now point to one destination: Rome.

The 2023 Rome E-Prix weekend will tell a special story, as Maserati prepares for its first World Championship single-seater race on home soil in 66 years.

Maserati is the desire for Italian luxury on wheels. Italy is the land of motors. Rome is Italy’s image around the world.

Three wins at the Royal Grand Prix of Rome between 1930 and 1932 are again but a glimpse, yet behind every race and every result lies a story of true audacity.

At the Rome E-Prix, the past and present gather to ignite passions old and new.

The echoes of the boldest drivers of the past and their exploits still resonate, as the city sets up for another memorable chapter in motorsport, with a Maserati single-seater officially returning to the grid in a home race.

Back in 1957, Juan Manuel Fangio, behind the wheel of a Maserati, won a record fifth Formula One World Drivers’ Championship title – his fourth in a row, and the last of his career.

In September of the same year, the Argentine ace was on the starting grid at Monza, ahead of what would be the Maserati brand’s final single-seater race start until the 2023 Mexico City E-Prix.

Such fearlessness all began when Alfieri Maserati himself piloted his Maserati Tipo 26 to a class victory in the 1926 Targa Florio.

It’s a part of us. It beats in our hearts, and courses through our veins. The dare to dream. The will to win. The courage to turn aspirations into a reality.

It’s the only way we know how to race. Maserati is coming home.
