After a 132-day break from competition, we were ready to ROKiT upon Formula E’s return to racing as we entered a multi-year Title Partnership with the global telco innovators.
On the first weekend of Season 6, Monaco’s only racing team hit the ground running in a pair of thrilling races held at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Diriyah.
By recording points in both rounds of the double-header – taking P7 in Race 1 and P4 in Race 2 – we didn’t disappoint and showcased our ambition and speed early on.
This haul of 18 points marked our second-best start to a season to date, with only the Season 4 Hong Kong double-header yielding a higher return from the opening two races.
Throughout Season 6, our qualifying form was apparent and despite progressing to Super Pole on five occasions, our one-lap pace in Chile was particularly noteworthy.
Racing at the Parque O’Higgins Circuit in Santiago, the classification session was a memorable affair from the outset and one that would produce one of our best results of the season.
A daring lap from Felipe placed the Brazilian in P4 on the grid while Edo took P7 after topping Group 2.
Throughout the season, Edo broke records for ROKiT Venturi Racing and re-wrote the Monegasque marque’s history books.
Over the course of the campaign, the Swiss-Italian star not only became our most experienced driver but also our most successful after knocking Stephane Sarrazin from the top of both charts.
Edo also became our first driver to surpass 100 career points – a feat that he achieved at the Mexico City E-Prix – and became the 18th driver in Formula E’s history to do this.
Alongside Edo’s history-making antics, a standout afternoon in Marrakesh paved the way to a landmark moment here in Monaco.
With a P5 performance, we ticked over the 350-point barrier in Morocco – a milestone moment that showcases the hard work we put in every week to improve performance.
Ending the campaign with a collective total of 364 points, we thoroughly expect this tally to tick over to 400 at the very least in Season 7.
When we took the chequered flag in February’s Marrakesh E-Prix, we didn’t expect that to be our final race for the next five months as the coronavirus pandemic ground Season 6 to a halt.
In the 159 days separating the Moroccan leg of the championship and the first part of the Berlin E-Prix, we explored a different avenue of competition, taking to the virtual realms of motorsport.
With Edo and Felipe back behind the wheel – now in the digital cockpit – we contested the Formula E Race at Home Challenge on rFactor 2, all in the name of charity.
Over the course of nine weeks, the Formula E paddock collectively raised over £100,000 for UNICEF, supporting the coronavirus appeal by protecting vulnerable children and families.
This fundraising effort not only supported but ultimately raised awareness of UNICEF’s primary mission – to protect and better the lives of children all over the world.
At the close of the season in Berlin, we said goodbye to Felipe as the Brazilian star called time on his two-season stint with the team.
As a key part of our operation, Felipe’s name became embedded in our proud story – one which he filled with many happy memories and iconic moments.
Earning the title of ‘Home Race Hero’ by taking a memorable podium on the streets of Monaco in Season 5, Felipe will be missed and we wish him the very best for the future.
