Unearth the Autodromo Miguel E. Abed

Learn more about the Puebla E-Prix with the help of Hewlett Packard Enterprise…

With seven races down, eight remain and this weekend, Formula E makes a return to Mexico as it heads West to race in Mexico’s City of Angels for the very first time.

As the series’ newest event, the 2021 Puebla E-Prix marks the first in history and as such, will become the 24th city to host a Formula E race event.

Despite this, however, we are by no means unfamiliar with competing in Mexico and we have been racing regularly in the country since 2016.

Since hosting its first event, Mexico has become a happy hunting ground for us here at ROKiT Venturi Racing – a trend that started in the country’s very first E-Prix.

Edoardo Mortara too has done more than prove his racing pedigree, and the Swiss-Italian holds a 100% points-scoring record on Mexican soil.

The largest haul in this impressive run came in 2019 when Edo powered to the podium in what is still one of Formula E’s most unpredictable and exciting races in history.

That was on the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez in Mexico City, however, and 110-kilometres South-East of the capital lies our home for the coming weekend.

Built in 1985 and redeveloped in 2005, the Autodromo Miguel E. Abed is the second-shortest track on the Season 7 calendar but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in uniqueness.

While this weekend’s E-Prix marks the circuit’s first World Championship event in 12 years, it serves as a regular feature in the NASCAR Mexico series which uses its oval configuration.

Racing on the International Short layout, we’ll be tacking 15 corners per lap this weekend, including a banked turn – the first corner of this type to feature on a Formula E track.

Although we have raced a total of 1,859-kilometres in Mexico to date, none of that data counts towards this weekend and we’ll all be starting from zero when practice gets underway in Puebla.

Despite this, however, we’ll be setting forth with our best foot forward as soon as we peel out of the pit lane with the help of our Official Technical Partner, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Providing high-speed data distribution and analysis, we’ll be able to unlock the meaning of every bite in the blink of an eye, enabling us to make split-second decisions when it matters.

By bringing this real-time competitive edge, HPE continues to ensure that we’re at the cutting edge of innovation in the world’s only carbon-neutral racing championship.
